OMG, if you look at Flight Number 6000 for this evening from CYVR to CYYC flown by yours truely I possibly had my worst flight ever.  Everytime REX updated the weather there was a odd windsheer and the aircraft would roll, pitch and yaw its way to excessive G-FORCES.

I am going to have to find some rain to fly in and hope for some super +100 ratings...

No more 79%'s for me..

That was a tough 1.2 hours, huh Jason? On the plus side, we don't pay too much attention to pilot ratings around here. There is always personal pride, of course. Somewhere, I saw something that allows the user to smooth out those wind changes upon weather updates. I don't remember where I saw it - I don't think it was in REX, but maybe in FSUIPC?

It's all about personal pride Greg  Grin  I will ahve to read into the shifting winds and updates.  There were moments looking at my ND that the winds were 80kts on the nose, then upon update they would be hitting me bang on the side of the aircraft - of course shifting the plane wildly off course and the autopilot was not gentle to return it back.

Nothing like flying in the REAL conditiions.  Just wish they would update smoother.  Thanks for the heads up about something out there to smooth it.  I will blame FSUIPC!!!

Jason,

If I recall there are some settings you can make to FSUIPC that will smooth all this out and allow to you "enjoy" that real weather. I made them, and they worked for me (I got them from an avsim forum quite a while ago). It has to do with the way FS handles upper winds in an erroneous fashing. Unfortunately I'm out of town and won't be at my rig for another 7 days or so. If you haven't already figured out the tunings by then I'd be happy to send you my config.

Have a look at this thread - http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=44009 (scroll down about mid-way to the screen capture regarding the "winds" tab in fsuipc. I believe this applies to FS9 & FSX (I am an FS9 user).

Cheers!

Here is my REX flight from hell story. I was on the road sitting at a truck stop for the day, I decided to purchase REX2. Not paying attention to the size of the download, i downloaded the whole 7 files on my laptop connected to the internet by my AT&T net card. Down load was finished, started the REX2 program flew my flight, no problem, I thought wahst a great purchase for $40.00. ******* WRONG. I got home recived my cell phone bill which includes my net card. $1098.00 I was like WTF****?? Huh The Rex download cost me $1000.00 not to mention the $40.00 i payed for the program. Moral of the story, never surf the internet while you are bored looking for something to purchase for FSX. OR make sure your on someone elses internet Wink

OMG Robert! Those truckstops will kill you! Stay on the road, buddy - it won't cost you as much.  Grin

Seriously, though...truckstops don't have free wi-fi for you guys??? These days, you can hook up for nothing all over the place: coffee shops, hotels (even in the lobbies of some), public libraries, and of course those unsecured networks that populate a suburban area. 4GB is hard enough to get downloaded with cable broadband, let alone an air card.

No they charge you $1.99 per hour. It would have been way cheaper for me to pay for internet then use my net card Embarrassed
